Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

Discover three beautiful volcanic lakes surrounded by a vast moorland on our Fuya Fuya Hill Hike. We'll set off from Quito and spend the day in a breathtaking natural area.

Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

We will meet at 7:30 am in front of the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito and head to the Mojanda Lagoons. After arrival, we will start our hike to the top of Fuya Fuya Hill, with a breakfast stop in Cayambe.

The 3-hour route will take us through an area featuring three stratovolcanic lakes: Karikucha, Yanakucha, and Warmikucha. We may also see some friendly alpacas in the vicinity.

We will traverse several moorlands of meadows and mountain scrubland leading to Fuya Fuya Hill, which is at an elevation of 13,779 feet (4,200 metres) above sea level. At the summit, we will enjoy panoramic views of the Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi, and Cotacachi Volcanoes.

While enjoying the views, we will have a sandwich and a drink for energy before descending to board our vehicle for a visit to the poncho fair in Otavalo, known for its arts and crafts.

After our stop in Otavalo, we will return to the meeting point in Quito, with a drop-off at 5 pm.
