Can you imagine being in both hemispheres at the same time? On this trip from Quito, you'll be able to put one foot on each side of the equatorial line that marks the Middle of the World.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll head north to Mitad del Mundo, known for the monument that marks the exact location of the equator, from which the country takes its name.
The Equatorial Monument stands at latitude 0º0'0", featuring a pyramidal-quadrangular shape with four monoliths at its corners, which marks the geographical orientation of the four cardinal points.
We'll visit the Ethnographic Museum and the equinoctial line, which divides the earth's hemispheres. With one foot on each side of this line, you'll be in the northern and southern hemispheres.
You will have free time to try some local cuisine, such as yahuarlocro, a potato-based soup, or explore the ancestral dwellings nearby.
Afterwards, we'll reconvene and start our journey back, arriving at the starting point after approximately 4 to 5 hours in total.
