Join us on an adventure to a wildlife sanctuary that spans 500 hectares and discover Ecuadorian flora and fauna up close on our Pasochoa Volcano Hike. Let's go!
Pasochoa Volcano Hike
Meeting at the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito at 7:30 am, we will head towards the Pasochoa Volcano. Upon arrival at the north face of the mountain, we will commence our hike.
The hike will take approximately 4 hours to reach the top of this extinct volcano. Along the way, we will encounter paths lined with alders, pumamaquis, and palms, as well as ferns, bromeliads, orchids, and heliconias.
Once at the crater, located at an altitude of 13,776 feet (4,199 metres), we will observe the Andean forest surrounding the former eye of the volcano. From the summit, we will enjoy views of the Antisana and Cotopaxi Volcanoes.
Keep an eye out for Andean condors flying overhead. During our visit to this area, we will have a picnic with a sandwich and a drink.
We will then return to the base and head back to Quito, arriving at the meeting point by 5:30 pm.
