Racalmuto Food Tour & Sciascia House Visit

At your chosen time, we'll meet in Piazza Umberto I to set off on our food tour of Racalmuto, following in the footsteps of Leonardo Sciascia.

As we wander the streets, we'll observe main monuments like the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte, dating back to 1738, located on the highest hill of the village. Near this church, we'll visit the Leonardo Sciascia Museum House to view the writer's furniture and personal belongings.

Sciascia described his strong connection with Racalmuto, noted for works like Le parrocchie di Regalpetra. Following his footsteps, we'll reach Racalmuto's main street, home to a bronze statue of Sciascia by Giuseppe Agnello. We'll visit the sulphur and salt miners' circle to learn about the area's mining history and proceed to the historic Regina Margherita theatre, built between 1870 and 1880, showcasing the cultural prominence of Racalmuto.

We will then go to a restaurant for a cooking demonstration on making Sicilian nougat, where you will taste various nougat products. Next, we’ll enter a resort for a tasting of various types of olive oil, learning about local olive trees and production techniques. Finally, we will enjoy a light meal of cold meats, cheeses, and local products before concluding our guided tour of Sciascia's birthplace.
