Racalmuto Food Tour & Sciascia House Visit

At your chosen time, we'll meet in Piazza Umberto I to start our food tour of Racalmuto, following in the footsteps of Leonardo Sciascia, Racalmuto's notable figure.

We will observe main monuments, including the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte, built in 1738 on the highest hill of the village. Nearby is the Leonardo Sciascia Museum House, showcasing his furniture and personal belongings.

Sciascia described his connection to Racalmuto, where he set Le parrocchie di Regalpetra. We will explore Racalmuto's main street, home to a bronze statue of Sciascia by Giuseppe Agnello, before visiting the historic Regina Margherita theatre, constructed between 1870 and 1880.

We will then visit a restaurant for a cooking demonstration on making Sicilian nougat, including opportunities to taste the products. Next, we'll enter a resort for a tasting of various types of olive oil, discussing the unique characteristics of local olive trees and oil production techniques. The tour concludes with a light meal of cold meats, cheeses, and local products, wrapping up our guided exploration of Sciascia's birthplace.
