Ragusa Private Tour
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at the Portale di San Giorgio to start a private tour of the historic center of Ragusa. We'll begin by admiring the Gothic-Catalan style portal, a symbol of Ragusa, particularly noting its central section depicting the fight between St. George and the dragon. This structure is one of the few architectural elements that survived the earthquake that devastated the town.
A few steps away is the entrance to the Giardino Ibleo, the oldest garden in Ragusa, overlooking the Irminio Valley and offering views of the Iblei Mountains. The garden features numerous fountains and an avenue lined with 50 palm trees.
We will then visit the Church of San Giacomo, known for its wooden ceiling and decorated with Corinthian columns and beautiful paintings, followed by a stroll past elegant palaces and shops selling Sicilian ceramics and handicrafts.
Next, we’ll stop at the Circolo di Conversazione or Caffè dei Cavalieri, a 19th-century neoclassical building favored by local nobles. The exterior displays beautiful frescoes and chandeliers.
Our tour concludes with a visit to the San Giorgio Cathedral, a major symbol of Ragusa and a key example of Sicilian Baroque architecture, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. After about two hours of exploration, the tour will end at the entrance of this temple.
