Rambouillet Castle features remarkable chandeliers, elegant rooms, and luxurious furniture. Completed in the 18th century, it has served as a royal residence for notable figures including Louis XVI, Napoleon I, Charles de Gaulle, and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. This ticket enables you to explore the various halls and rooms at your own pace.
During your visit, you will learn about the international summits hosted here, such as the first G7 meeting in 1975 and the Kosovo peace negotiations in 1999. The ticket includes access to the annexed buildings: the dairy of Queen Marie Antoinette and the House of Shells. The former was a gift from Louis XVI and the latter serves as a small guest house decorated with mollusk shells.
Your ticket also grants access to the gardens, featuring diverse flowerbeds, parks, and a large ornamental pond with six artificial islands.
Opening Times
Rambouillet Castle is open every day except Tuesdays, with the following hours:
October 1 to March 29: 10 am - 12 pm, 1:30 pm - 5 pmMarch 30 to September 30: 10 am - 12 pm, 1:30 pm - 6 pm?
On December 24 and 31, the closing time is 4 pm, and the final admission is allowed 30 minutes before closing. Note that these hours are flexible and subject to change.
Free Admission
Free admission to Rambouillet Castle is available for:
Young individuals from the European Union aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.
To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office and provide a certifying document for eligibility. Admission is also free for all on the first Sunday of the month from January 1 to March 31, November 1 to December 31, and the third weekend of September.
