The Skógar Museum houses several open-air buildings that display how Icelanders lived historically. Visitors can see houses and work tools, learning about fishing, earning a living, and leisure activities.

Your ticket provides access to the technical museum, folk museum, and open-air museum. You can explore three enclosures showcasing different periods of Icelandic architecture, including sod-roofed houses, churches, and early 20th-century schools.

This experience is suitable for all ages, as young visitors can engage with Icelandic history through a large collection of artefacts, cars, and tools from local families.

Opening hours

The Skógar Museum is open every day of the year during the following hours:

June to August: From 10 am to 6 pm.September to May: From 11 am to 4 pm.

Reduced fare

Retirees, individuals over 67 years, students under 25, and disabled persons are eligible for a reduced ticket price. Proof of eligibility must be presented at the ticket office.
