Ravenna Private Tour
At a time of your choosing, we will meet outside the Basilica of St. Apollinaris to begin a walking tour of the main monuments in Ravenna. You will discover up to eight buildings recognized as World Heritage!
The tour starts at the temple of St Apolinar, built in 505 by King Theodoric the Great. You will see beautiful mosaics while learning about the historical periods of Ravenna, including the Romans, Byzantines, and Visigoths.
Next, we will visit the 'Dantesque area' where Dante Alighieri's remains are kept. You will see the façade of the neoclassical building housing the poet and proceed to the Neonian baptistery, featuring a notable mosaic of Saint John the Baptist baptizing Jesus.
We will then explore Piazza del Popolo square, Palazzo Rasponi square, and arrive at the Basilica of San Vital, dating back to the 6th century with renowned Byzantine art mosaics. You will also visit the mausoleum of Gala Placidia.
After a two-hour private tour, we will conclude the activity outside the mausoleum or at another central location of your choice.
