Explore the ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire and discover its history and monuments with a private tour led by a professional English-speaking guide.

Ravenna Private Tour

The tour begins at a time of your choosing outside the Basilica of St. Apollinaris. We will embark on a walking tour featuring up to eight buildings recognized as World Heritage.

Our first stop will be the temple of St Apolinar, constructed in 505 under King Theodoric the Great. While admiring the mosaics, you will learn about Ravenna's historical periods, including the Romans, Byzantines, and Visigoths.

Next, we will visit the 'Dantesque area', where Dante Alighieri is buried. We will observe the neoclassical building housing his remains and continue to the Neonian baptistery, featuring a mosaic of Saint John the Baptist baptizing Jesus.

After this, we will explore Piazza del Popolo, see Palazzo Rasponi, and arrive at the Basilica of San Vital, known for its Byzantine art mosaics, and visit the mausoleum of Gala Placidia.

The private tour lasts for two hours, concluding outside the mausoleum or at another preferred central location.
