Explore the ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire with this private tour. A professional English-speaking guide will accompany you and your group.

Ravenna Private Tour

At a time of your choosing, we will meet outside the Basilica of St. Apollinaris to begin a walking tour of Ravenna, a city with up to eight buildings recognized as World Heritage sites.

We will first enter the temple of St Apolinar, built in 505 by King Theodoric the Great. You will learn about the historical periods Ravenna experienced, including the Romans, Byzantines, and Visigoths, while admiring the mosaics.

We will then visit the 'Dantesque area', home to the remains of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. We will view the façade of the building where Dante rests and proceed to the Neonian baptistery to see the mosaic of Saint John the Baptist baptizing Jesus.

Next, we will walk around Piazza del Popolo square, see Palazzo Rasponi square, and arrive at the Basilica of San Vital, known for its Byzantine art mosaics and the mausoleum of Gala Placidia.

After a two-hour private tour, we will conclude outside the mausoleum or at another central location of your choice.
