Tour Details
At the arranged meeting point in front of the Rheims train station, we will board a minibus that whisks us away to Épernay, renowned for being among France's prime champagne-producing locales.
Our adventure begins in this charming town as we meander along the Avenue de Champagne, famed for its impressive cellars from prestigious houses including Moët & Chandon, Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, and Boizel. Additionally, we will encounter the Dom Pérignon statue, honoring the monk who, in the 1600s, pioneered a transformative technique for creating champagne.
Continuing our journey, we will explore the surrounding vineyards of Épernay, where insights into the concept of 'champagne terroirs' will be shared. Our next destination is the enchanting village of Hautvillers, where we will visit the church that serves as the final resting place of Dom Pérignon.
Our next stop will lead us to another lovely village, Mareuil-sur-Ay. Here, we will explore Le Clos Corbier, a traditional regional establishment, to indulge in a tasting of exquisite French champagne. This experience will be complemented by a typical lunch featuring three distinct local specialties.
After our meal, we will visit a family-owned winery to savor their handcrafted champagnes.
Our journey concludes with a return to Reims train station after a delightful 6.5 hours of exploration.
