Champagne Villages Tour
- 7 Stunden
Discover the birthplace of French champagne as you explore the vineyards around Épernay, Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Ay with this Champagne Villages Tour from Reims.
Description
We'll meet at the designated time in front of Rheims train station. From here, we'll take a minibus to Épernay, an important champagne-producing village in France.
In Épernay, we'll wander along the Avenue de Champagne, home to cellars belonging to renowned brands such as Moët & Chandon, Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, and Boizel. We'll see the Dom Pérignon statue, the monk who discovered a revolutionary method for making champagne in the 17th century.
The tour continues to the vineyards on the outskirts of Épernay, where we'll discuss the 'champagne terroirs'. Then we will visit the village of Hautvillers and the church where Dom Pérignon is buried.
The next stop will be Mareuil-sur-Ay, where we'll visit Le Clos Corbier to taste French champagne, accompanied by a traditional lunch featuring three local dishes.
After lunch, we'll proceed to a family winery to taste various handcrafted champagnes. Finally, we'll return to Reims train station, completing the tour in a total of 6 hours and 45 minutes.
