Arkadi Monastery, Margarites & Melidoni Cave Tour

After picking you up from your hotel in Rethymno between 7 am and 8 am, we'll drive to the Arkadi Monastery. Here, you will have an hour of free time to explore the monastery at your leisure, including its museum with Ottoman relics and icons. Learn about its history, particularly events from 1866 and during Venetian rule.

Next, we will visit Margarites, a village known for its traditional pottery. You will see a demonstration in a workshop by an expert craftsman. You will also have half an hour of free time for lunch in a local restaurant.

Our next stop will be a small oil factory to learn about the production of olive oil, focusing on its historical evolution and unique quality.

Finally, we'll visit Melidoni Cave, located over 220 meters above sea level. Inside, you will see impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The cave has been historically significant, serving as a place for religious ceremonies and shelter during wartime.

We will conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Rethymno between 5 pm and 6 pm.
