Arkadi Monastery, Margarites & Melidoni Cave Tour

After picking you up from your hotel in Rethymno between 7 am and 8 am, we'll drive to the Arkadi Monastery. You will have an hour of free time to explore the monastery and its museum, which features Ottoman relics and icons, highlighting its history during 1866 and Venetian rule.

Next, we'll visit Margarites, a village known for traditional pottery. An expert craftsman will demonstrate how local products are made. You will also have half an hour of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

The tour continues at a small oil factory, where we will learn about the evolution of olive oil production and the characteristics that make Cretan olive oil distinctive.

Lastly, we will tour the Melidoni Cave, situated at over 220 meters above sea level. The cave features impressive stalactites and stalagmites and has historical significance as a site for religious ceremonies and as a shelter during wartime.

We will conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Rethymno between 5 pm and 6 pm.
