Day Trip to Heraklion & Knossos

Travel back in time with this excursion to Heraklion. You'll learn about the history of the Minoans at the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum. A must for any visit to Crete!

Heraklion Day Trip + Knossos

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Rethymno and head to Heraklion, stopping for breakfast en route. Around 10:30 am, we will arrive at the capital of Crete, the cradle of the oldest civilization in Europe.

Upon arrival, we will visit the archaeological complex of Knossos on a guided tour. We'll explore the palace, an important site of the Minoan civilization and the former seat of King Minos. As we review the ruins, we will discuss the legends such as the Labyrinth and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.

Next, we will proceed to the Archaeological Museum. In addition to a guided tour of this impressive building, we will see unique remnants of Minoan culture, including the sarcophagus of Agia Triada, the fresco of the Minotaur, and the fresco of the Prince of the Lilies.

At around 1:30 pm, we will leave the museum, giving you two hours of free time to explore Heraklion. Afterward, we will begin our return trip to Rethymno, scheduled to arrive at 6:30 pm.
