Day Trip to Heraklion & Knossos

Travel back in time with this excursion to Heraklion. You'll learn about the history of the Minoans at the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum. A must for any visit to Crete!

Heraklion Day Trip + Knossos

At the indicated time, pick up will be at your hotel in Rethymno, followed by a drive to Heraklion, with a quick breakfast stop. Around 10:30 am, arrival at the capital of Crete will take place.

Upon arrival, a guided tour of the archaeological complex of Knossos will commence, where we'll visit the palace, significant in Minoan civilization and the seat of King Minos. The tour includes legends such as the Labyrinth and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.

Next, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum, exploring its impressive building and discovering notable remnants of Minoan culture, including the sarcophagus of Agia Triada, the fresco of the Minotaur, and the fresco of the Prince of the Lilies.

At around 1:30 pm, after the museum visit, there will be two hours of free time to explore Heraklion. Following this, the return trip to Rethymno will begin, with an expected arrival at 6:30 pm.
