Day Trip to Heraklion & Knossos

Travel back in time with this excursion to Heraklion. You'll learn about the history of the Minoans at the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum. A must for any visit to Crete!

Heraklion Day Trip + Knossos

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Rethymno and head to Heraklion, stopping for breakfast along the way. Around 10:30 am, we will reach the capital of Crete, the cradle of Europe's oldest civilization.

Upon arrival, we will visit the archaeological complex of Knossos for a guided tour. We'll explore the palace, significant in Minoan civilization and former seat of King Minos, learning about legends like the Labyrinth and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.

Next, we will proceed to the Archaeological Museum for another guided tour, where we will find remnants of Minoan culture such as the sarcophagus of Agia Triada, the fresco of the Minotaur, and the fresco of the Prince of the Lilies.

At around 1:30 pm, we will leave the museum, allowing you two hours of free time to explore Heraklion. We will then regroup and start our return trip to Rethymno, scheduled to arrive at 6:30 pm.
