Day Trip to Heraklion & Knossos

Travel back in time with this excursion to Heraklion. You'll learn about the history of the Minoans at the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum. A must for any visit to Crete!

Heraklion Day Trip + Knossos

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Rethymno and travel to Heraklion, stopping for breakfast on the way. Around 10:30 am, we'll arrive in the capital of Crete, the cradle of the oldest civilization in Europe.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the archaeological complex of Knossos, where we'll go on a guided tour of the palace, a key site of the Minoan civilization and the former seat of King Minos. While exploring the ruins, we'll learn about legends such as the Labyrinth and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.

Next, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum. This guided tour will include unique remnants of Minoan culture, such as the sarcophagus of Agia Triada, the fresco of the Minotaur, and the fresco of the Prince of the Lilies.

At around 1:30 pm, we'll leave the museum, allowing you two hours of free time to explore more of Heraklion. Afterward, we'll start our return trip to Rethymno, with an expected arrival at 6:30 pm.
