Day Trip to Heraklion & Knossos

Travel back in time with this excursion to Heraklion. You'll learn about the history of the Minoans at the Palace of Knossos & the Archaeological Museum.

Heraklion Day Trip + Knossos

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Rethymno and travel to Heraklion, stopping for breakfast en route. Around 10:30 am, we will arrive at the capital of Crete.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the archaeological complex of Knossos on a guided tour. Here, you'll explore the palace, significant to the Minoan civilization and associated with King Minos. You'll learn about legends such as the Labyrinth, and the stories of Daedalus and Icarus.

Next, we will head to the Archaeological Museum for a guided tour, where you will view unique remnants of Minoan culture, including the sarcophagus of Agia Triada, the fresco of the Minotaur, and the fresco of the Prince of the Lilies.

At around 1:30 pm, you will have two hours of free time to explore Heraklion further. We will then regroup and begin our return trip to Rethymno, arriving around 6:30 pm.
