Join us and discover the geothermal area of Hengill from a unique perspective on this helicopter tour from Reykjavik.
Helicopter Hot Springs tour
Our adventure starts at the designated time at Reykjavik Airport, where we'll board a helicopter and head to the geothermal area of Hengill.
As we ascend, the colourful houses of the capital will appear smaller. We will also see some of the most iconic sites of Reykjavik, such as Hallgrimskirkja Church and Harpa Concert Hall.
In the distance, the geothermal area of Hengill will come into view. This area covers around 100 kilometres squared (38.6 square miles) and is one of the largest geothermal areas in Iceland, associated with 3 volcanic systems.
The last volcanic eruption in Hengill occurred more than 2000 years ago. From the helicopter, you'll observe the vents and thermal fountains scattered throughout the area, indicating ongoing volcanic activity.
After flying over this region, we'll land at a safe spot, allowing you to explore the old lava fields and small craters on foot. Witness boiling water emerging from the ground and the curious colour of gas seeping through the surface.
Following your exploration of the geothermal area, we'll return to the helicopter and fly back, passing majestic mountains, picturesque valleys, and more lava fields.
The tour concludes with a landing at Reykjavik Airport after approximately one hour.
