The Grand Master's Palace is a historical testament to the medieval period and the influence of the Knights of St. John on Rhodes. This architectural gem was constructed at the end of the 7th century and transformed in the early 14th century to serve as the Grand Master's residence until the arrival of the Ottomans in 1522. The palace was designed as a fortress inside a castle for defense at the highest point of the city.
