Alvão Natural Park Hiking Tour
At the agreed time, we'll depart from Pena Aventura Park to explore Alvão Natural Park on foot. This park is a major protected area in northern Portugal, known for its biodiversity and home to various endemic birds and mammals, including wild cats, peregrine falcons, and the endangered Iberian wolves.
During the hike, we'll follow the tracks of the Iberian wolf, seeking signs of its presence, such as footprints or droppings. Our route will take us through fields of heather and broom, showcasing the natural landscape of the Alvão plain.
The tour includes typical regional landscapes, featuring walks through birch and wild pine forests, observation of birds of prey, as well as ponds inhabited by amphibians and insects. A stop will be made for participants to have an energy bar when needed.
After five hours of hiking through Alvão Natural Park, we will return to the starting point, concluding the tour.
