Join us on a tour of Rio's Dona Marta favela, where you will see the colorful houses and learn about their connection to Michael Jackson.
Tour Details
Meet at Corumbá Square before we head into the Dona Marta favela. A funicular train will take us to the highest point of the favela.
We will walk through the streets, learning about the history of the colorful houses that are home to approximately 8,000 residents. Negative stereotypes will be challenged as we explore the various educational projects in the area. We will visit the Dona Marta arts center, the favela's sports center, and observe street art murals and traditional houses.
A highlight will be the visit to Laje do Michael Jackson, a viewpoint with a statue of the singer, known for being the filming location of his video 'They Don't Care About Us'. Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
The tour lasts 2 hours, concluding as we return on foot to the starting point.
