Catamarca Tour
Your journey begins with a 6 am pickup from your hotel in Termas de Río Hondo, as we head southwest, ready for an adventure filled with delightful discoveries!
Our first destination is Villa Río Hondo, from where we bid farewell to the Santiago del Estero region, entering the diverse landscapes of Catamarca. This province, located in the northwest of Argentina and bordering Chile, offers breathtaking sights, and our inaugural stop will be the Cuesta del Portezuelo viewpoint. Prepare to be awed by the panoramic views from this extraordinary spot.
After soaking in the stunning vistas, we will descend towards San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, the provincial capital. Here, you'll embark on a guided exploration of the historical downtown area, uncovering the rich architectural heritage that characterizes this charming city.
Your tour will commence at the magnificent church and convent of San Francisco. Next, we'll visit the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Valle, where you can marvel at the exquisite "camarín" (small chapel). The significance of this sacred site will be revealed during our visit!
Once we conclude our cathedral experience, you'll have an hour of free time for lunch to recharge. Afterward, we will venture out of the city to explore the grotto of the Virgin of the Valley of Catamarca, a deeply revered location within the province.
As our day draws to a close, we'll make a final stop at the El Jumeal dam to appreciate its scenic beauty before returning to Termas de Río Hondo. We anticipate arriving back at your hotel by 7 pm.
