Mangroves Night Cruise

On this night cruise through the mangroves of Ria Lagartos we'll see some of the nocturnal animals inhabit the northern coast of the Yucatan.

Description

We'll meet at 8 pm at the Rio Lagartos boardwalk, from which point we'll embark on our cruise through the mangroves of this area on the northern coast of Yucatan.

Guided by the light of the starry skies, we'll make our way to the estuary of Ria Lagartos, a large protected area declared a Biosphere Reserve - home to numerous nocturnal animals who form part of this ecosystem's wealth of biodiversity.

As we sail, we'll likely encounter crocodiles swimming amongst the mangroves. You may be surprised by the sheer size of these reptiles, who generally hunt during these hours.

Along the way, we'll also take the opportunity to do some stargazing. This area of Yucatan suffers from almost no light pollution, so you can get amazing views of the night sky without the need for telescopes.

Finally, at 9:30 pm, we'll finish this night cruise at the pier from which we departed.
