Discover a unique spot in the Andes on our Atillo Lagons Day Trip. We'll depart from Riobamba and walk through a scenic area filled with lush greenery.

Atillo Lagons Day Trip

Pick-up from your hotel in Riobamba will be at 8 am, then we will head to the Atillo Lagoons within Sangay National Park. During our journey, we will pass through some rural Indigenous communities before reaching the viewpoint of the lakes. Here, you will see Cuyo, Colay and Atillo Lakes and walk to the Negra Lagoon, known for its black water and the dark Puruhae legend.

A short walk will follow, where we will explore the area's plant life, discussing plants such as lupinus, chocho de páramo, valeriana, and flor de páramo. We will also observe some migratory cuvivis birds.

For lunch, we will enjoy a traditional meal featuring grilled trout with salad, cooked corn, and cheese sauce.

After lunch, we will visit the Chalán ravine to view the footprints of 40,000-year-old Pleistocene mastodons.

We will then return to Riobamba, dropping you off at your hotel by 5 pm. We look forward to seeing you again!
