Atillo Lagons Day Trip
Join us for the Atillo Lagons Day Trip, departing from your hotel in Riobamba at 8 am to explore the Atillo Lagoons, located within Sangay National Park.
During the journey, we will pass through rural Indigenous communities before reaching the viewpoint of Cuyo, Colay, and Atillo Lakes. A visit to the Negra Lagoon will follow, known for its black waters and associated with a local Puruhae legend.
The trip includes a short walk to explore the region's plant life, focusing on species like lupinus, chocho de páramo, valeriana, and flor de páramo. Additionally, migratory cuvivis birds may be seen.
Participants will enjoy a traditional lunch featuring grilled trout, salad with vegetables, cooked corn, and cheese sauce.
Post-lunch, the itinerary includes a visit to the Chalán ravine to observe the footprints of 40,000-year-old Pleistocene mastodons.
We will return to Riobamba, with an estimated drop-off at your hotel by 5 pm. Thank you for joining us!
