Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hike

On our 2-day hike through the Chimborazo Volcano, participants will explore the mountains, encounter vicuñas, and enjoy scenic views.

Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hike

Day 1

The tour begins with a 7 am pickup from your hotel in Riobamba, followed by traveling to Urbina for breakfast. We will then proceed to the foothills of Chimborazo Volcano to start our adventure.

The hike spans 6 miles (10 kilometers) and ascends to 13,615 feet (4,150 meters), where the Urku Wasi lodge is situated. Upon arrival, lunch will be provided, and we will then head toward the Condor Samana Waterfall, which stands at 131 feet (40 meters) tall, formed by melted volcanic glacier.

After returning to the lodge, dinner will be served under the night sky of the Ecuadorian Andes.

Day 2

The day will start with breakfast, followed by a 5-hour hike through the Abraspung Valley to view the volcanoes of Carihuirazo and Chimborazo while encountering friendly alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas.

After lunch, we will descend the volcano and take a minibus back. A stop at La Chorrera Canyon will be included to see its 656-foot (200-meter) high rock walls.

Return to the hotel in Riobamba is expected by 5 pm.

The tour includes 1 night's accommodation at the Urku Wasi lodge in a shared room with bunk beds.
