Quilotoa Lagoon Day Trip
At 8 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and head to the Quilotoa Lagoon.
On the route, we will stop in the village of Zumbahua in the Ecuadorian Andes. Here, we will view the Toachi River canyon formed by the Quilotoa Volcano. We will also visit Tigua to see masks created by local Indigenous communities.
Next, we will arrive at the Quilotoa Lagoon, which has a diameter of 8 miles (13 kilometers) and is situated within a crater. This lake was formed 800 years ago when the volcanic cone collapsed.
We will approach the caldera's edge and embark on a 1-hour kayak tour through the lagoon's colorful waters. During this time, it is possible to spot deer or rabbits among the Andean flora.
After kayaking, we will proceed to the village of Quilotoa for a traditional lunch featuring corn and beans. Following the meal, you will have 1 hour of free time to explore the local craftsmanship.
Finally, we will return to Riobamba, arriving at your hotel by 7 pm.
