Quilotoa Lagoon Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and begin the journey to Quilotoa Lagoon. On our way, we will stop in the village of Zumbahua in the Ecuadorian Andes to view the canyon of the Toachi River, formed by the Quilotoa Volcano's flows. Additionally, we will visit Tigua to see masks crafted by local Indigenous communities.
The Quilotoa Lagoon, spanning a diameter of 8 miles (13 kilometers) and located inside a volcanic crater, was formed 800 years ago following a volcanic cone collapse. We will proceed to the caldera's edge for a 1-hour kayak tour in the lagoon's multicoloured waters, where we may encounter deer or rabbits among the Andean flora.
After kayaking, we will visit the village of Quilotoa for a traditional lunch featuring corn and beans. Following the meal, you will have 1 hour of free time to explore local craftsmanship.
Finally, we will return to Riobamba, with drop-off at your hotel by 7 pm.
