Riobamba, Guano & Pucará Tambo Tour
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and begin a walking tour in the historic center, exploring the railway capital of Ecuador.
We will start at the city's viewpoint for stunning views, including the Chimborazo Volcano. Next, we will visit St. Peter Cathedral to observe its blended architectural styles and baroque façade. Following this, we will head to the Merced Market to learn about local dishes such as hornado de Riobamba.
We will visit the Museum of the Mummy of Guano, which houses the mummified body of Fray Lázaro de Santofimia. If fortunate, we might see Baltazar Ushca, the last ice maker of Chimborazo.
Afterwards, we will see Balbanera Church, built by indigenous people and Spaniards in 1534. Lunch will be at the Pucará Tambo Tourist Centre.
Post-lunch, we will tour the centre, providing panoramic views of Riobamba. Pucará Tambo is known for its traditional methods of making ponchos and textiles, allowing you to learn about local customs.
Finally, we will return you to your hotel in Riobamba at the end of the 9-hour tour.
