Ashram Tour of Rishikesh

  • 1 Bewertung

Discover why Rishikesh is one of the holiest places in India by exploring the city's ashrams, or Hindu spiritual retreats, including the abandoned ashram where the Beatles stayed and wrote some of their most famous songs.

Itinerary

Your walking tour of the ashrams of Rishikesh will begin at the Sivananda ashram, near the Ram Jhula bridge. Learn about the origins of these spiritual centres where individuals from around the world gather for meditation and yoga, along with insights into the daily lives of the teachers and students.

Rishikesh has numerous ashrams, each with its unique doctrines established by its founding guru. You will visit Vanprastha, Swarg, and Parmarth Niketan, where the Ganga Aarti ceremony is conducted every evening.

A visit would not be complete without the iconic Chaurasi Kutia, known as the Beatles Ashram, located in the Himalayan foothills. The Beatles spent time there in 1968 under the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, finding this period productive, as they wrote over thirty songs. The ashram is now a ruin overgrown with greenery, serving as a shrine to the band.

Your walking tour will conclude after visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram.
