At the designated time, we will meet at 29 Maakuntakatu, then board a bus to the north of Rovaniemi. After an 80-mile (120-kilometre) journey, you'll arrive in the Lappish village of Luosto, home to the Lampivaara amethyst mine.

To reach the mine's hilltop, you'll travel by snowcat, which will take you through the snow among the snow-capped forests of Finland. Upon reaching the peak, you'll walk to the amethyst mine, which boasts over 2,000 million years of history. Enjoy a guided tour of the mine, learning about the purple stone's properties and uses, while admiring its vibrant color.

Additionally, you will have a chance to visit the excavation zone and try digging for jewels in the frozen ground, keeping any amethysts you find as souvenirs from this rare gem mine open to tourists.

After your visit, enjoy scenic views from the hilltop. Next, warm up around a campfire with a sandwich and a hot drink before returning to the meeting point in Rovaniemi, arriving 6 hours later.
