Lampivaara Amethyst Mine Day Trip

After pickup from your hotel, you will travel by bus to the north of Rovaniemi for an 80-mile (120-kilometre) journey to the Lappish village of Luosto, home of the Lampivaara amethyst mine.

To reach the mine, you will ride a snowcat through the scenic snow-capped forests of Finland. At the mine, with over 2,000 million years of history, you will receive a guided tour where you will learn about the amethyst stone, its properties, and uses. You'll have the chance to dig for jewels in the excavation zone and keep any amethysts you find.

After the tour, enjoy panoramic views from the hilltop and warm up around a campfire with a sandwich and hot drink before returning to your hotel in Rovaniemi, approximately 6 hours after departure.
