Marvel at stunning landscapes and quaint medieval settlements during this trip to Grožnjan and Oprtalj, two of the most picturesque villages on the Istrian peninsula that are sure to enchant you!
Exploration of Grožnjan & Oprtalj
Our journey will commence at 8:30 am from Rovinj, heading towards the interior of Istria. This Croatian peninsula, the most expansive in the Mediterranean, boasts numerous charming medieval towns!
As we traverse through rolling hills, vast olive groves, and vineyards, our first destination will be the town of Grožnjan. This quaint locality, often referred to as "the village of artists", features 28 workshops, an art gallery, a summer film school, a jazz festival, and much more!
A stroll through the historic district of Grožnjan will follow, leading us to the Mirna River valley. Nestled in this stunning region is the village of Oprtalj, where we will uncover Venetian-style architecture that is beautifully preserved in various structures.
After exploring Oprtalj, our next stop will be a traditional Croatian tavern where we can savor a sample of Istrian delicacies, which will change based on the season. If it suits you, this will be a great opportunity to have lunch at this venue.
We will wrap up our excursion by heading back to the original meeting point in Rovinj, with an estimated return time of 3:30 pm.
