Discover the history of the capital of Rwanda with this private tour of Kigali. You'll visit the Genocide Memorial and the city's main markets, cultural centers, and museums.
Description
At the designated time, you'll be picked up at your hotel in Kigali to embark on a tour of Rwanda's capital city.
We will first head to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where we'll learn about the attempted extermination of the Tutsi population by the Hutu government in 1994. This event has inspired numerous books and films, including the award-winning feature film Hotel Rwanda, nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2004 Oscars.
After learning about the memorial, the final resting place of more than 250,000 victims, we'll visit Kimironko Market, the largest in Kigali. Then, we'll proceed to the Inema Art Center to admire local artworks.
The next stop will be in front of the iconic Inzora Rooftop Café and the Kigali Convention Centre, followed by a visit to Camp Kigali, home to a memorial for UN Blue Helmets. Ten Belgian peacekeepers were killed by Hutu extremists during the genocide.
The tour will continue past the Kigali Arena, the largest stadium in East Africa, and the Niyo Arts Gallery. After visiting the Nyamirambo Women's Center, you will have 30 minutes of free time for lunch in downtown Kigali. The last stops will be the Talking Through Art Gallery and the Caplaki Craft Village. We will return to your hotel in Kigali after a total of 8 hours.
