Tour Options

Upon making your reservation, you will have the choice between two different experiences, both commencing at the Altos de Caño Hondo hotel at the designated time. Below are the particulars for each option:

2.5-hour Tour

Your adventure begins with a meeting at the Altos de Caño Hondo hotel at your selected time, after which we will proceed to the marina. Here, we will embark on a boat to leave Sabana de la Mar behind and set our course toward Los Haitises National Park.

As we navigate along the Caño Hondo River amidst the vibrant red mangroves, we will arrive at San Lorenzo Bay. While gliding over the water, look out for the distinctive rocky mogotes and watch as pelicans and kingbirds soar above. This area is home to 700 unique plant species on its islets, so keep your eyes open!

Once our boat ride concludes, we will explore both the Arena and Linea Cave, which display ancient petroglyphs and artwork created by indigenous communities around 750 years ago. These remarkable depictions illustrate animals, deities, and humans, rendered in shades of black and grey.

After the caving adventure, we will return to the boat to continue our exploration of the national park. During this segment, we will be on the lookout for manatees, dolphins, and other marine mammals that call this area home.

As our day draws to a close, we will make our way back to the starting point, concluding the experience approximately 2.5 hours after we began.

3 to 3.5-hour Tour

This option mirrors the previous itinerary, allowing us to discover the breathtaking mangroves, San Lorenzo Bay, and the Arena and La Linea caves.

Following our visit to these locations, we will proceed to the Owl Cave, famous for its nesting owls. During this segment of the excursion, you will have the chance to witness the local wildlife, including a variety of birds that thrive in this extraordinary ecosystem.

In conclusion, we will return to the meeting location after 3 to 3.5 hours filled with discovery and adventure.
