Why Visit the Basilica of Saint-Denis?

The Basilica of Saint-Denis is significant for its pointed arches, rib-vaulted ceilings, and stained glass windows. It was the first structure built in this architectural style, which spread across Western Europe from the 12th to the 15th century. Your ticket grants access to the Basilica where you can explore its interior, which houses the tombs of many historic French monarchs, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

In addition to its tombs, the cathedral features stained glass windows and a rose window that enhance its illumination.

Opening Times

The Basilica has the following opening times:

April 1 - September 30: Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 6:15 pm; Sundays, from 12 pm to 6:15 pm.October 1 - March 31: Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 5:15 pm; Sundays, from 12 pm to 5:15 pm.

Final admission is 30 minutes before closing. These hours are subject to change.

Free Admission

Admission is free for:

Youth from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, admission is free on the first Sunday of the month from January 1 to March 31 and from November 1 to December 31, as well as during the 3rd weekend of September.
