Why Visit the Basilica of Saint-Denis?
This Medieval abbey church was the first building constructed in the Gothic style, featuring pointed arches, rib-vaulted ceilings, and stained glass windows. The basilica is the final resting place of many French monarchs, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, whose extravagant tombs are notable sites. Visitors can explore the interior at their own pace.
In addition to the tombs, guests will appreciate the spectacular stained glass windows, particularly the rose window, which illuminates the cathedral with color.
Opening Hours
The Basilica of Saint-Denis operates under the following hours:
April 1 - September 30: Monday to Saturday, 10 am - 6:15 pm; Sundays, 12 pm - 6:15 pm.October 1 - March 31: Monday to Saturday, 10 am - 5:15 pm; Sundays, 12 pm - 5:15 pm.
Final admission is 30 minutes before closing time. These hours may change.
Special Opening Hours
December 24 & 31: closes at 4:15 pm.

Free Admission
Admission to the Basilica of Saint-Denis is free for:
Youth from the EU aged 18-25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.
Free admission is also available on the first Sunday of the month from January to March and November to December, as well as on the 3rd weekend of September. To obtain free tickets, present a certifying document at the ticket office.
