On this tour through the salt mines of Pedra de Lume and Santa Maria, we will visit two main attractions of the island of Sal and the only salt deposit located in the crater of a volcano.

Pick-up will be between 8:20 and 8:40 am at your hotel in Santa Maria. The first stop will be Pedra de Lume, the oldest settlement on the island, founded in 1804. After exploring the town, we will visit the famous salt mines, which are a significant tourist attraction and the only salt deposit in the world located in a volcanic crater.

We will enjoy views of salt-covered landscapes in pink and turquoise tones. Since 2004, this area has been a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Next, we will head to the Santa Maria salt marshes to learn about the importance of the salt industry for the island. Afterward, we will return to Santa Maria to relax at a restaurant overlooking the sea, where we will enjoy an aperitif of typical products, tasting dishes such as fidjoss and baobab juice.

The tour will conclude with the drop-off at your hotel around 12:30 pm.
