Sal Island Lemon Sharks Sighting

In this activity, we'll dip our feet into the sea, allowing you to observe the lemon sharks of Sal Island from a close distance. These harmless yellow-skinned sharks are safe for humans.

Description

Pickup from your hotel in Santa Maria occurs between 2:10 pm and 2:40 pm to head to Shark Bay, known for its lemon shark habitat. They are called lemon sharks due to a yellowish appearance caused by light effects on the water. These sharks typically measure between 8 feet and 9 feet (2.5 to 3 meters) in length. You will have the opportunity to dip your feet in the shallow waters where baby lemon sharks gather, while larger ones will be observed from a distance. The activity includes learning interesting facts about this shark species.

If preferred, you can choose to watch the sharks from the shoreline while relaxing and sunbathing on Shark Bay. Afterward, we will return to Santa Maria, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 4:30 pm.
