On this salt island tour, we'll discover secret pools and swim with sharks - friendly yellow lemon sharks.
Description
We'll begin with hotel pickup to explore the island of Sal, a major tourist destination in Cape Verde. This tour crosses the island from south to north, visiting notable towns. First, we will stop in Santa Maria, once a salt extraction site, now a key tourist area.
If traveling between October and March, our next destination will be Kite Beach, known for kitesurfing championships. We will then visit the nature reserve at Murdeira Bay for views of Monte Leon.
Next, we'll go to Espargos, the economic hub of Sal, and visit Porto Palmeira, a fishing village with colorful houses and a pier. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant offering typical dishes including meat, pasta, and fresh fish.
Afterward, we'll explore Pedra de Lume, the first village on Sal, learning about the salt trade and visiting its unique salt flats, the only place where you can swim in a salt lake in a volcanic caldera.
We will also visit Miragem, a desert where the optical effect of water and salt occurs, and then the Blue Eye, a natural pool with 40 to 60 minutes of swimming time, conditions permitting. Additionally, we will seek out the local favorite Love Cellar.
The tour culminates at Shark Bay, for close encounters with the lemon sharks.
After a total of 7 hours, we will return you to your hotel.
