On this salt island tour, we'll discover secret pools, salt deserts, and have the option to swim with friendly lemon sharks.
Description
Pickup will be at your hotel for a journey across Sal Island, a key tourist destination in Cape Verde. We will traverse the island from south to north, stopping at notable towns and sites.
Our first stop is Santa Maria, a town that evolved from a salt extraction site into a major tourist hub. If your tour is between October and March, we will visit Kite Beach, renowned for world kitesurfing championships, followed by a stop at Murdeira Bay, offering views of Monte Leon.
Next, we visit Espargos, the island's economic center, and Porto Palmeira, a fishing village with colorful houses. Lunch will be at a local restaurant featuring typical Sal Island dishes, including meat, pasta, and fresh fish.
We will then proceed to Pedra de Lume, the island's first founded village, to learn about the salt trade and visit its salt flats, where swimming in a salt lake within a volcanic caldera is possible.
Our next destination is Miragem, a desert with optical effects related to water and salt production, followed by Blue Eye, a natural pool where you'll have 40 to 60 minutes for swimming if conditions permit, and a chance to seek out Love Cellar, a local favorite.
The tour culminates at Shark Bay, providing an opportunity to observe the lemon sharks. Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel after a 7-hour experience.
