At the indicated time, we'll meet beneath the clock in Plaza Mayor, in the heart of Salamanca. Once assembled, we will begin our journey through the city.
We'll start in Plaza Mayor, where we'll learn about how Salamanca rose to prominence in the Spanish Empire, along with some hidden stories about the square. Next, we will visit the nearby Plaza del Corrillo, showcasing Salamanca’s medieval heritage.
Our next stop is the Casa de las Conchas, a Gothic-style building adorned with carved shells. Close by, we will view the façade of La Clerecía, now housing the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
Continuing, we'll arrive at the Patio de Escuelas Mayores, home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Here you’ll learn about its prestigious history and search for the famous Frog of Salamanca in the Plateresque façade.
We will also explore the Patio de Escuelas Menores, where we’ll view the Sky of Salamanca, a ceiling mural of a Renaissance celestial map.
Next, we'll go to Plaza de Juan XXIII to learn about the Old Cathedral, a Romanesque masterpiece. A short walk away, in Plaza de Anaya, we'll see the towering New Cathedral, blending Gothic and Baroque styles.
After 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, our tour will conclude at Plaza de Anaya. The guide will share recommendations for local dining and drinking options to enhance your Salamanca experience.
