Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet beneath the clock in Plaza Mayor, right in the heart of Salamanca. Once we're all together, we'll embark on this journey through the city.
We'll begin in Plaza Mayor, learning about how Salamanca rose to prominence in the Spanish Empire and exploring a few hidden tales. From here, we'll make our way to the nearby Plaza del Corrillo, where Salamanca’s medieval heritage lingers.
Next, we stop at the Casa de las Conchas, a Gothic-style building adorned with carved shells. Close by is the majestic La Clerecía, an impressive Baroque structure now housing the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
Continuing, we'll arrive at the historic Patio de Escuelas Mayores, home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in Europe, where we'll discover stories from its past and the hidden Frog of Salamanca in the Plateresque façade.
We'll also explore the serene Patio de Escuelas Menores to admire the Sky of Salamanca, a ceiling mural depicting a Renaissance celestial map.
Next is Plaza de Juan XXIII, where we'll discuss the origins of the Old Cathedral. A short walk to Plaza de Anaya reveals the towering New Cathedral, blending Gothic and Baroque architecture.
After 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, our tour will conclude at Plaza de Anaya. The guide will share recommendations for dining, allowing you to continue enjoying Salamanca’s delights.
