Discover Salamanca's rich history on a guided tour of its iconic landmarks such as Plaza Mayor, the Old and New Cathedrals, and one of Europe's oldest Universities.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet beneath the clock in Plaza Mayor, in the heart of Salamanca. Once assembled, we'll embark on our journey through the city.

We will begin in Plaza Mayor, known for being one of Spain's most beautiful squares. Here, we will learn about how Salamanca rose to prominence in the Spanish Empire and discover some hidden tales about the square. From there, we will proceed to Plaza del Corrillo, showcasing Salamanca’s medieval heritage.

Next is the Casa de las Conchas, a Gothic-style building adorned with carved shells. Nearby, we will view La Clerecía, a Baroque structure housing the Pontifical University of Salamanca.

Continuing, we arrive at the historic Patio de Escuelas Mayores, home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Here, we will learn about its past and look for the famous Frog of Salamanca in the Plateresque façade.

We will also explore the Patio de Escuelas Menores and admire the Sky of Salamanca, a ceiling mural depicting a Renaissance celestial map.

Next, we head to Plaza de Juan XXIII to discuss the origins of the Old Cathedral. A short walk will take us to Plaza de Anaya, where we will see the towering New Cathedral, blending Gothic and Baroque architecture.

After 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, our tour concludes at Plaza de Anaya. Before departing, the guide will provide recommendations for dining and drinks to enhance your experience in Salamanca.
