Salamanca Private Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Plaza Mayor to begin our private tour of Salamanca, a city known for its historic center recognized as a World Heritage Site. The city features architectural masterpieces in Picaresque style and is rich in interesting facts.
We will see the famous shells of St. James at the Casa de las Conchas, situated in front of the La Clerecía temple, a former Jesuit College now housing the Pontifical University.
The tour continues down Libreros Street to the University of Salamanca, the oldest in Spain, where notable scholars like Fray Luis de León and Unamuno taught. After admiring the detailed façade, we’ll enter to see the Sky of Salamanca, a 15th-century fresco in the historic Escuelas Menores.
We will then visit the two cathedrals, starting with the New Cathedral, which took 220 years to build from 1513 to 1733. Entering the Old Cathedral reveals medieval architecture and notable sculptures. Here, we will focus on the Chapel of Santa Barbara, associated with the first University of Salamanca.
After two hours, our tour will conclude at the Casa Lis Museum, a popular site in Castilla and León.
