Travel to the Golden Era of Piracy with your ticket to Real Pirates Salem! Learn fascinating facts about this period and even see authentic pirate treasures salvaged from the Whydah Gally shipwreck.
Description
The Real Pirates Salem Museum is your ticket to travel in time to the 18th century and discover pirating history through exhibitions full of curiosities and interactive areas. A real pirate treasure awaits.
During your visit, you'll see artifacts and riches from the Whydah Gally, a ship that sunk in 1717 near Cape Cod, close to Salem. The treasures were hidden until their discovery in the late 20th century. Thanks to this, genuine artifacts from the Golden Age of Piracy are on display.
You can uncover the ship's history and its tragic shipwreck by exploring the museum. Inside, view recreations of the ship's interior, displays of torture instruments, cannons, and more.
In addition to informative panels at each exhibit, the museum includes interactive areas. You can learn about different nautical knots, pirate vocabulary, and even touch antique coins from the Whydah Gally.
Schedule
Real Pirates Salem is open Monday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, with the last admission 30 minutes before closing. Hours may change during peak holiday seasons and national holidays.
