Description
The Real Pirates Salem Museum allows visitors to explore the 18th century and discover pirating history through exhibitions and interactive areas. You can view artifacts and riches from the Whydah Gally, a ship that sunk in 1717 off the coast of Cape Cod, near Salem. The treasures were hidden until their discovery in the late 20th century, enabling a glimpse into the Golden Age of Piracy.
Visitors can uncover the ship's history and its tragic shipwreck through various museum rooms. Inside, you will find recreations of the ship's interior, displays of torture instruments, cannons, and more.
In addition to informative panels, Real Pirates Salem features interactive areas. Guests can learn about different nautical knots, pirate vocabulary, and even handle antique coins from the Whydah Gally.
