Bird-Watching in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary

In this bird-watching activity in the Palmas de Cera Sanctuary, we'll see yellow-eared parrots in one of the most famous birding spots in Colombia.

Description

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Salento or Filandia at the indicated time to head towards Pijao, located in the Eje Cafetero of Colombia.

After the road trip, we'll arrive at the main square, where we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to begin our birding adventure in the Andean Region. The trail through the sanctuary of wax palm trees will take us along the La Palmera trail, with various observation points to watch birds above the palms.

We'll look for marail guans, Andean eagles, white-tailed hawks, golden-headed quetzals, toucans, and yellow-eared parrots, among other endemic species. After birdwatching, we'll continue to a peasant farm for lunch.

Post-lunch, we'll head back to the 4x4, drive back to Pijao, and then return to Salento or Filandia, arriving approximately 10 hours after pickup.
