Cerro Morrogacho Reserve Tour
At 6:30 am we'll meet at Carrera 5 in Salento. There we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to start the excursion to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve.
Once we arrive in the vicinity of the Cocora Valley, we'll start a four-hour hike to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve. Along the route on foot, we'll find typical vegetation of the Colombian Andean forest and various springs, which are important for the water supply of the region.
If we're lucky, we'll see different specimens of the 31 species of birds that inhabit this area, many of them endangered. The guide will provide information on their characteristics and help us learn to distinguish them.
Once we reach an elevation of 3450 metres (11318 feet) above sea level, we'll enjoy views of the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve and its natural environment. We'll have time to take photos of the panoramic view of the Cocora Valley.
Afterwards, we'll begin our descent, stopping for a picnic lunch. When we reach the foot of the valley, we will return to Salento at approximately 5 pm.
