On this 4-day private hiking route from Salento to Ibagué, we will ascend the Nevado del Tolima while exploring the landscapes of Los Nevados National Park.

Day 1: Salento - Cocora Valley

Pickup from your Salento hotel at 5 am in a 4x4 vehicle. We'll trek 18 kilometers (11 miles) through rocky stretches, Quindio wax palms, moorlands, and cloud forests. We will reach 1800 meters (5905 feet) and stay overnight at finca La Primavera.

Day 2: Cocora Valley - Arenales

A breakfast will precede an 8-kilometer (5 miles) trek involving a 790-meter (2592 feet) ascent. The humidity will increase as we ascend to 4400 meters (14435 feet) and rest at the Arenales campsite.

Day 3: Arenales - Cañon Hot Springs

After breakfast, we will attempt to summit the Tolima volcano, exceeding 5200 meters (17060 feet). From the summit, views of other volcanoes including Ruiz will be visible. We will visit the thermal springs of Cañón to relax before camping there overnight.

Day 4: Cañón hot springs - Ibagué

The final day involves an 18-kilometer (11 miles) alpine route from the hot springs, passing Vancouver and Bombona lakes and traversing the Amberes valley to Palomar. An all-terrain vehicle will transport us to Ibagué, arriving around 5:30 pm.
