Palma de Cera Ecocultural Centre Tour

If you're in Salento, you cannot miss this visit to the Palma de Cera Ecocultural Centre. We'll learn all of the secrets of Colombia's national tree.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the corner of Carrera 7 and Calle 5, in the centre of Salento. From there we'll walk to the Palma de Cera Ecocultural Centre, and learn about Colombia's national tree.

We'll enter the facilities of the garden centre and begin to reveal all of the stages that the wax palm tree goes through from seed to adult tree.

Afterwards, we'll use a telescope to examine a wax palm tree in detail and review the different uses this tree has had since ancient times. We'll explain how palm trunks are used in the construction method known as bahareque.

Continuing our tour, we'll go to a viewpoint where we'll appreciate the importance of the undergrowth for the wax palm tree. Photo opportunity!

After an hour, we'll end the guided tour through the Ecocultural Centre of Palma de Cera, arriving back at the starting point. Finally, we'll say goodbye and provide a ticket for lunch at a nearby restaurant.

This tour includes lunch at the Bambú or Etnia Arte & Sabor restaurant, subject to availability. The menu consists of a dish of meat and vegetables and a cup of coffee. You'll go to the restaurant by yourself.
