Tour Highlights
At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Salta and start touring the city to discover places linked to the Battle of Salta, which took place on February 20, 1813. This battle marked the victory of the Army of the North under General Manuel Belgrano over the royalist troops commanded by Juan Pío Tristán. We will visit the Portezuelo area, the only entrance to the city at the time of the confrontation.
Next, we'll proceed to Chachapoyas, where the routes used by the patriot troops were located. We will then stop at the Castañares Farm, where General Belgrano planned the Battle of Salta, and discuss the events of the night prior to this decisive confrontation.
Our journey will take us to Lomas de Medeiros, where Martina Silva de Gurruchaga led a group of women and gauchos to join the patriot army. After learning about this, we will return to downtown Salta to see the 20 de Febrero Monument and the Monument to Martin Miguel de Güemes.
Finally, we will stop at the Nuestra Señora de la Merced church, which houses the cross from the Battle of Salta. After this visit, we will return to your hotel, concluding the tour 4 hours after pickup.
