Tour Highlights
At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Salta and start touring the city to discover significant locations associated with the Battle of Salta, which occurred on February 20, 1813. This battle resulted in the victory of the Army of the North led by General Manuel Belgrano against royalist troops commanded by Juan Pío Tristán. We will visit the Portezuelo area, the only entrance to the city during the confrontation.
Next, we will proceed to Chachapoyas, where the trails used by the patriot troops can be found. The tour includes a stop at the Castañares Farm, where General Belgrano planned the battle. We will share the story of the night prior to this decisive event.
We will then head to Lomas de Medeiros, where Martina Silva de Gurruchaga and her group of women and gauchos supported the patriot army. After learning about this, we will return to downtown Salta to see the 20 de Febrero Monument and the Monument to Martin Miguel de Güemes, commemorating the only Argentine general who died in combat during the War of Independence.
The final stop will be at the Nuestra Señora de la Merced church, home to the significant cross of the Battle of Salta. After this, we will return to your hotel, with a scheduled arrival 4 hours after pickup.
