Day Trip to Iruya
- 13 Stunden
Make your way through the most iconic villages in northern Argentina on this day trip to Iruya!
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta to begin our day trip to Iruya, a picturesque village in northern Argentina.
First, we'll visit General Güemes and then proceed on the highway into the province of Jujuy and the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the only route to Iruya.
During the journey, we'll stop at Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca. For photography enthusiasts, we will guide you to scenic points, including Maimará and the site where the Tropic of Capricorn intersects.
We will then pass through Iturbe before ascending to the Abra del Condor, reaching an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet).
From there, we'll descend 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) to our destination, Iruya, founded in 1753, where agriculture is key to its community.
In Iruya, you will have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal and explore the town's attractions. We recommend visiting the town's church and walking around the central square, along with viewing La Cruz and El Condor.
After 13 hours, we will return you to your hotel in Salta.
