Make your way through the most iconic villages in northern Argentina on this day trip to Iruya!
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta to start our day trip to Iruya, a picturesque village in northern Argentina.
First, we'll visit the town of General Güemes, where we'll set out on the highway into the province of Jujuy and the Quebrada de Humahuaca. This route is the sole passage to reach Iruya.
During our journey, we'll stop at Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca. Photographers will find great viewpoints for capturing stunning images. Maimará and the intersection of the Tropic of Capricorn offer excellent settings.
Next, we'll pass through the village of Iturbe and take a winding road to the Abra del Condor, reaching an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet) above sea level.
We will then descend 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) to our destination, Iruya, founded in 1753, with a focus on agriculture.
In Iruya, you'll have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal and explore the town's attractions, including the church and the central square. Visit the viewpoints La Cruz and El Condor.
After 13 hours of adventure, we'll return you to your hotel in Salta.
