Salinas Grandes Day Trip

Between 7 am and 7:30 am, we will depart from Salta towards the Quebrada del Toro. A short hike across its famous viaduct offers views of this spectacular gorge in northern Argentina. We will also view the tracks of the Tren a Las Nubes, one of the highest trains in the world at over 4200 metres.

Next, we will proceed to the town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, with a stop in San Antonio de los Cobres for lunch. Afterward, we will travel through other picturesque villages until we reach the Salinas Grandes, the third largest salt flat in South America. Here, we will explore the stunning landscape characterized by sodium chloride mixed with turquoise and brown tones. This "white desert," located at 4,000 metres above sea level, is among the most remarkable natural wonders of northern Argentina.

On our return, we will stop at the Cuesta del Lipan hill and descend to Purmamarca, where we will see the Cerro de los Siete Colores, or "Hill of Seven Colours." After enjoying the scenery and visiting the local craft fair, we will return to Salta, arriving around 7:30 pm.
