Salinas Grandes Day Trip
Between 7 am and 7:30 am, we depart Salta heading towards the Quebrada del Toro. A short hike across its famous viaduct offers views of this spectacular gorge in northern Argentina. We'll also see the tracks of the Tren a Las Nubes, at over 4200 metres, one of the highest trains globally.
We continue to the town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, with a stop in San Antonio de los Cobres for lunch. After lunch, we will explore other villages until reaching the Salinas Grandes, the third largest salt flat in South America. Here, you can experience the stunning landscape featuring sodium chloride with turquoise and brown tones, at 4,000 metres above sea level.
On the return trip, we'll stop at Cuesta del Lipan before descending to Purmamarca to admire the Cerro de los Siete Colores and visit the craft fair. We will return to Salta around 7:30 pm.
