Discover the historic Eagle's Nest, a retreat where Hitler hosted key Nazi figures, and delve into the depths of world history while appreciating the breathtaking surroundings.
Eagle’s Nest Excursion
The journey begins at Hubert-Sattler-Gasse, where we will board a bus heading towards the German border to leave Salzburg behind. Our scenic drive through the Bavarian Alps takes about an hour, allowing us to admire the impressive natural beauty along the way.
Once we arrive, our adventure continues at the Eagle's Nest, perched at an elevation of 1820 meters (6,000 feet). This location was constructed as a tribute from the Nazi party to honor Hitler on his 50th birthday.
We will navigate through the mountain-side tunnels leading to the iconic brass elevator, historically used to transport Nazi leaders and dignitaries to meet the Führer. This part of the visit evokes a sense of history that is both chilling and fascinating.
While examining the various rooms within the complex, our guide will share insights into the significance of the discussions held at the Eagle's Nest during World War II. Additionally, we will enjoy unparalleled views of the surrounding cliffs, blending a unique historical perspective with the splendor of nature.
Before concluding our trip, we'll take a brief pause in the quaint German town of Berchtesgaden, offering approximately 30 minutes of leisure time to explore its charming streets.
After a comprehensive 4.5-hour excursion, we will return to our starting location, concluding this immersive experience.
