Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at 3 Rainerstraße. From there, we'll head to Kurgurten, a garden next to Mirabell Palace, a baroque building from the 17th century. We will explore the ornate gardens featuring mythological statues and sets from the 60's musical film The Sound of Music. We will walk along the Salzach River to the heart of the old town, passing Mozart's residence where he lived for several years.
On Getreidegasse, you'll find Mozart's birthplace, now a museum, amidst elegant facades and iron signs. Our tour will continue to Kollegienkirche, a baroque church designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, known for hosting operas since the 1970s.
Next, we'll arrive at Residenzplatz to admire Residenzbrunnen and Salzburg Cathedral, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. This church, rebuilt in the 17th century, is one of the city's emblematic buildings.
As we discuss the history of the square, we'll pass by Mariensäule fountain on our way to Domplatz and the sphere at Kapitelplatz. At Kapitelplatz, you'll notice a large gold sphere adding a contemporary touch to the historic environment.
Also at Kapitelplatz is the Kapitelschwemme, a watering place for horses. We'll conclude with a panoramic view of Hohensalzburg Fortress, established in 1077, one of the oldest fortresses in Central Europe. After a 2-hour guided tour, we'll say goodbye at this location.
