Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at 3 Rainerstraße. From there, we'll head to Kurgurten, a garden next to Mirabell Palace, built in the 17th century. We'll enter the gardens to see mythological statues and sets from The Sound of Music. We will walk along the Salzach River to the old town, passing Mozart's residence.
On Getreidegasse, we'll visit Mozart's birthplace, now a museum, surrounded by elegant facades and historic signs. The tour continues to Kollegienkirche, a baroque church by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, noted for hosting operas since the 1970s.
Next, we will arrive at Residenzplatz, admiring the Residenzbrunnen and the Salzburg Cathedral, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. This 17th-century church is emblematic of the city.
As we discuss the square's history, we will pass the Mariensäule fountain en route to Domplatz and Kapitelplatz. At Kapitelplatz, see the large gold sphere that contrasts with the historic setting.
Also at Kapitelplatz is the Kapitelschwemme, once for horses, where we will view the Hohensalzburg Fortress, an ancient structure safeguarding the city since 1077.
Finally, after a 2-hour guided tour, we will conclude our journey at this location.
