2-Day or 3-Day Tour of the Ecuadorian Andes

Are you in Quito and interested in exploring the Ecuadorian Andes? On this 2-day or 3-day tour, you'll discover the active volcanos, colorful lagoons, and charming Andean towns!

2-Day Tour

Day 1: Cotopaxi

Pick up from your hotel in Quito and travel to the Andes along the Panamerican South, with a breakfast stop. Reach the Cotopaxi National Park, located 62.1 miles (100 kilometers) from Quito, where you will visit the Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Center and the Laguna de Limpiopungo.

Next, hike to the Refugio José Rivas at 15958 feet (4864 meters), with an estimated duration of 1.5 hours. Afterward, lunch will be at a hacienda or restaurant, followed by the evening at your hotel in Cotopaxi.

Day 2: Quilotoa

After breakfast, visit Julián's home for a discussion on guinea pig breeding and agriculture, followed by a trip to the town of Tigua to see local art. Enjoy views from the Tohatchi Lookout, then choose trails to reach the Quilotoa Lake.

Enjoy regional lunch before returning to Quito for a 7 pm drop-off.

3-Day Tour

For a more extended experience, the 3-day tour includes the same itinerary as the first day, with a visit to Baños de Agua Santa on the second day. Stay overnight at a hotel in Baños, where you can explore local cuisine and thermal pools.

On the third day, after breakfast, hike the Mindo waterfall route, including attractions like the Pailón del Diablo Waterfall and the Casa del Árbol. Enjoy free time before returning to Quito around 9 pm.

Changes in the Itinerary

The order of the days in the itinerary may vary depending on the month.

One-Night Accommodation

The tour includes a one-night stay in Cotopaxi at Hotel Chuquiragua, Hotel Rondador, or similar (3-star). The 3-day tour includes a night at Hotel Casa Piedra in Baños (2-star).

Prices are per person for a double room.

Tour Schedule

The first tour begins at 7 am and returns to Quito at 7 pm (2-day tour) or 9 pm (3-day tour).

Pickup and Drop-off

Hotel pickup/drop-off included for those within a 0.5-mile (0.80-kilometer) radius of La Carolina, Plaza Foca, or Plaza Grande. Alternative meeting points will be arranged for hotels outside this area.
