Embark on a memorable journey from Quito as we delve into the scenic Andean villages of Quilotoa. Prepare to be enchanted by breathtaking volcanic landscapes while engaging with the rich heritage of these traditional communities!
Tour Overview
At the designated time, we will gather at your chosen location in Quito, marking the beginning of our exploration of the Andean villages of Quilotoa.
Our first destination is the region of Tigua, home to charming farming communities situated in the western Andean range. Here, we will uncover the remarkable artistic skills of the locals, especially those known for their vibrant paintings on sheepskin.
Next, we will make our way to the community of Zumbahua. This location offers breathtaking vistas of the Toachi river canyon, a striking result of ancient geological shifts.
We will then continue towards the community of Quilotoa, where the highlight is the extraordinary Quilotoa lagoon. Renowned for its captivating emerald hue, this destination is often recognized as one of the world's most stunning lakes. We will set off on a 45-minute hike to the lagoon to appreciate its beauty firsthand. Once at the lagoon, you can unwind amidst its picturesque scenery or opt to rent a kayak for a closer exploration!
Following our activities, we will savor a sumptuous lunch featuring an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. After replenishing our energy, you’ll be granted some free time to privately explore Quilotoa and take in the magnificence of the lagoon.
To wrap up our 11-hour adventure, we will make our way back to Quito.
