The Great Canyon of Cotundo Day Trip

Between 4:30 and 5 am, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Quito to begin a journey to the Gran Cañón de Cotundo. The drive into the Ecuadorian Amazon, home to the Quijos, takes about 3.5 hours.

Before reaching Cotundo, we'll stop in the colonial town of Baeza for an hour of free time for breakfast and exploration.

We’ll arrive at Cotundo at 9:30 am to start the rainforest adventure, where you can see a variety of birds, fruits, flowers, and butterflies.

The next stop is a half-mile trek up the mountain, leading to the Gran Cañón de Cotundo, formed by river erosion and featuring waterfalls.

After 3 hours at this site, we'll have lunch around 2 pm, near caves where ancient tribes conducted sacred rituals.

During the journey, we’ll hike and cross rivers to reach the caves, where we'll spend an hour in natural pools and jacuzzis observing ancient geological formations.

We'll conclude the tour of the caves around 4:30 pm and return to Quito to drop you off at your hotel by 8 pm.
