The Great Canyon of Cotundo Day Trip

Between 4:30 and 5 am, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Quito to begin the journey to the Gran Cañón de Cotundo. The drive to Cotundo takes about 3 and a half hours, during which we will appreciate the lush vegetation of the region.

We will stop in the colonial town of Baeza, the first Amazonian town in Ecuador, for an hour of free time for breakfast and exploration. We will arrive at Cotundo at 9:30 am and start our rainforest adventure to experience diverse wildlife.

Next, we will embark on a half-mile trek up the mountain towards the Gran Cañón, formed by erosive processes over thousands of years. After 3 hours of free time at this site, lunch will be served around 2 pm in a cave complex significant for ancient rituals.

We will hike and cross rivers to reach the caves where we will relax for an hour in natural pools and jacuzzis while observing geological formations.

We will conclude the cave tour around 4:30 pm and return to Quito, arriving at your hotel by 8 pm.
