The Great Canyon of Cotundo Day Trip

Between 4:30 and 5 am, you will be picked up from your hotel in Quito to begin the journey to the Gran Cañón de Cotundo. The drive to Cotundo, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon, will take approximately 3.5 hours, allowing time to appreciate the region's lush vegetation.

On the way, a stop will be made at the colonial town of Baeza, where you will have an hour for breakfast and exploration. The estimated arrival time at Cotundo is 9:30 am, after which the rainforest adventure begins.

During your time in Cotundo, you will observe diverse flora and fauna, with over 500 species of plants. Next, there will be a half-mile trek up the mountain to the Gran Cañón, shaped by river erosion, featuring waterfalls.

After 3 hours of free time to explore, lunch will take place around 2 pm at a cave complex significant for ancient healing rituals. A hike crossing several rivers will lead to the caves, where you will have an hour to relax in natural pools and view ancient geological formations.

The tour concludes around 4:30 pm, with a return to Quito and arrival at your hotel at 8 pm.
