Discover magnificent Andean forests and fascinating species of mountain birds on this trip to the Yanacocha Reserve from Quito.
Yanacocha Reserve Tour
We'll pick you up from the meeting point in Quito at 7 am and set off for the Yanacocha Reserve. This area, located north of Quito on the slopes of the Guagua Pichincha Volcano, is known for its Polylepis forests.
Thanks to its forests and humid climate, the Yanacocha Reserve attracts many high-altitude birds, such as the masked flowerpiercer and the tororoí rufos. It hosts the largest community of hummingbirds in the country, with over 50 different species.
At midday, we will enjoy a snack, featuring a quesadilla (a traditional corn and cheese dish), chulips chocos (a popular Andean snack made from toasted grains), and a soft drink or water. At the end of the tour, we will drop you off at the meeting point in Quito around 1 pm.
Pick up
This trip includes pick up from several hotels in Quito's historic center: Hotel Casa El Edén, Portal de Cantuña, Casa Gangotena, San Blas, and Casa Foch. If you are not staying at one of these hotels, we will meet on Calle Vicente Ramón Roca E8-57.
