Welcome to El Grifo Winery, the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the oldest in Spain. El Grifo Winery makes use of land that was once covered by volcanic lava and sand from the eruption between 1730 and 1736 on Lanzarote, transforming it into an estate filled with vineyards and fruit trees.

The winery's covered wine press dates back to 1775, and the elements, combined with the expertise of various families, have contributed to wines with a distinct character. El Grifo Winery features vines from the 19th century, hand-harvested one grape at a time. You can also explore a museum recounting the history of wine on the island.

During the booking process, you can choose between two tour options, both starting at the El Grifo Winery entrance.

Tour + 3 wine tastings (1 hour)

This tour includes a visit to the El Grifo Museum, featuring the indoor wine press from 1775 and authentic relics, including barrels of Malvasia Volcanica wine from 1881. You will explore the old winery and centuries-old vineyards during this hour-long tour, understanding the winemaking process, culminating in a tasting of 3 different wine varieties.

Tour + 6 wine tastings (2 hours)

This tour option additionally includes a visit to the old house, library, and modern winery, showcasing the contrast between traditional winemaking and modern innovations. Guests will explore the family house, the library with over 5,000 volumes, and the modern winery. It concludes with an exclusive tasting of 6 wines paired with 3 traditional Canarian cheeses and sweets before wrapping up the 2-hour tour.
