El Mirador & El Tintal: 5 Day Hiking Tour

Lose yourself in the vastness of the jungle and explore Guatemala's most important Mayan remains on this 5-day hike through El Mirador and El Tintal.

Tour Details

Day 1: Flores - El Tintal

Pick up from your hotel in Flores and transfer to Carmelita (4 hours). Meet the guides and hike to the Florica and Uacute campsites for lunch. Continue on Zacbé road to El Tintal to tour the Maya archaeological site with over 2,000 buildings. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 2: El Tintal - El Mirador

Start with breakfast before hiking through the forest. Hike 23.5 km (14.6 mi), stopping at El Zompopero picnic area for lunch before visiting La Muerta. Arrive at El Mirador and relax at camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: El Mirador

Morning climb of El Tigre Pyramid for sunrise. Breakfast at camp followed by exploration of El Mirador, observing the ball game fields and astronomical observation points. After lunch, visit the frieze of the Hero Twins and La Danta Pyramid for sunset. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 4: El Mirador - El Tintal

After breakfast, begin the return hike to El Tintal (23.5 km/14.6 mi) with a lunch stop at Zompopero area. Arrive at El Tintal, rest, and enjoy dinner.

Day 5: El Tintal - Flores

After breakfast, hike 17.5 km (10.8 mi) to Carmelita, bidding farewell to guides and having lunch. Return to Flores and arrive at your hotel around 4 pm after a 4-hour drive.

Accommodation and Meals

This tour includes 4 nights' full board accommodation at campsites in El Tintal and El Mirador. Tents for two and shared bathroom facilities are provided. Meals include pasta, meat, chicken, rice, sandwiches, and fruit.
