During this activity, we'll enjoy a hike up to Cerro Otto, explore the Berghof refuge, and visit the Casa del Montañés museum, focusing on the history of Otto Meiling, the German pioneer of the area.
Description
Meet us at the Tourist Information Office in Civic Center Square to start our mountain adventure from Bariloche.
The adventure begins with a stroll through Bariloche's German Quarter, heading into the Patagonian Forest for an uphill hike along the slopes of Cerro Otto. Ascending will provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
During the hike, we will recount stories of the pioneering German mountaineer, Otto Meiling, who influenced this Argentine region. After approximately two hours and about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) of climbing, we will reach the Berghof refuge, originally used as Meiling's residence and later transformed into the first ski center in South America.
We'll visit the Casa del Montañés Museum at the Berghof Lodge to learn about Otto Meiling's legacy in Bariloche. After the museum visit, you will have free time to explore the refuge and enjoy lunch at local restaurants.
The tour will conclude at the refuge after 4 hours of exploration. If preferred, we can assist in arranging private transportation for your return to Bariloche.
