Hacienda Esmeralda Cacao Tour

We'll meet at the time of your choice at the main gate of Hacienda Esmeralda, a cacao farm in San Francisco de Macoris. A tour awaits!

Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and then tour the cacao farm to learn about the processes of planting, extraction and cutting, followed by fermentation and drying.

As we explore the farm, we'll discuss the product's significance in local culture, noting that the Maya and Aztecs recognized cacao's properties in ancient times.

During the tour, we'll visit the hacienda's store to see the extraction and crushing of the seeds. The tour concludes with a chocolate workshop, where we will create our own chocolate figure. The visit lasts two hours.

You can enhance your experience by selecting a tour option that includes a typical lunch at Hacienda Esmeralda. The buffet will feature water or soft drinks and coffee, with a menu for large groups including grilled potato and vegetable salad, Yucatan rice, chicken breast in mushroom sauce, and ripe plantain cake. This option lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes.
